  • 1)a) The narrator tells the story from the first person: “I judged from his manner”

    b) The narrator’s vision is limited: “Dupin seemed singularly interested in the progress of this affair — at least so I judged from his manner, for he made no comments”      

    c) The narrator is inside the story: “I saw no means by which it would be possible to trace the murderer”

    He is one of the characters: “We must not judge of the means,” said Dupin, “by this shell of an examination."

    2)a) The narrator is really important since he’s a detective (enfin d’après le texte c’est ce que j’ai compris); and because he’s in charge of the murder case as well.  

    b) This kind of narration not only shows us the main character’s thought but it shows us that the main character is the narrator of the story.

    Voilà ce que je pense mais comme je te le dis toujours, vaut mieux vérifier car je ne veux pas te donner des mauvaises réponses :)
