8. She thought that she'll hate the young fellow and discourage him publicly.
9. Her parents made her put heavy jewelry, of her step-sister. In top of that, she begin to hate everything that is happening around her. She is disgusted.
10. Her family seems more than happy. Everyone makes jokes, laughs without caring about the feelings of the girl.
11. It was the bridegroom. Her parents considered him, like a hard-won prize.

13. I think the narrator is a determined girl who wants to lead her life as she wants. When she ceded the insistence of her family, that's not because she is discouraged. But because she wants to humiliate him in front of everyone. She is afraid of nothing. She does everything she wants.
